Wolfeboro is in Carroll County and is a popular resort area situated beside Lake Winnipesaukee, It includes the village of Wolfeboro Falls. It is a popular tourist destination because of its proximity to Lake Winnipesaukee, its unmatched scenic beauty and its small town New England character. Wolfeboro is also a retirement destination for people from all over the U.S. The town was settled in 1768 and incorporated in 1770. Wolfeboro is home to Wentworth State Park. The town has a total area of 58.5 square miles and is drained by the Smith River, which is the outlet of Lake Wentworth and an inlet of Lake Winnipesaukee. The highest point in town is Moody Mountain, elevation 1,420 feet, located near the northern boundary.
